A standard counseling session typically lasts about 50 minutes. However, the frequency and duration of sessions may vary depending on your individual needs, goals, and the type of therapy you're receiving. During your initial consultation, your therapist will work with you to create a treatment plan that outlines the recommended session structure for the most effective progress.
Your first counseling session is primarily focused on getting to know you and understanding what brought you to therapy. Your therapist will ask about your current challenges, personal history, and what you hope to achieve through counseling. This session also allows you to ask questions, learn more about our therapeutic approach, and decide if it’s the right fit for you. There’s no pressure to share everything at once—we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Counseling can support a wide range of mental health and life challenges. At High Country Counseling and Consulting, we work with clients facing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, self-esteem concerns, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. We also assist adolescents and young adults dealing with academic pressure, social issues, or identity development. No matter the concern, our licensed therapists are trained to help you explore it in a safe, nonjudgmental environment.
